Housing Sector Partners Secure Improvement Funding

DEVCO and GENuS consortia have come together to share best practice in a ground breaking project to implement the new Core Principles for Customer Service for the Welsh Public Service. The successful project was submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government in a bid for the 2007/8 Improvement Fund; awarded for projects that stimulate change that lead to significant improvement in public services for the benefit of the citizen.

The project involves nine partners, all committed to the improvement agenda and to learning more about how they can improve the service provided to their tenants and other stakeholders. The partners are: Rhondda Housing, Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association, Cynon Taf Housing Association, Hafod Housing Association, Melin Homes, Newport Housing Trust, Merthyr Tydfil CBC, and Charter Housing.

The ninth partner is The Improvement Consultancy, and Director and bid Project Manager, Michaela Weaver is passionate about service: "Housing in Wales has a reputation for strong commitment to customer service, and this project will provide a platform to share approaches, and propagate best practice throughout the sector in Wales. Gayna Jones from Hendre Group is Project Director and feels that all housing colleagues will benefit from the project: "the core deliverables for this project will include a best practice guide, and a self assessment framework to be shared across the housing sector in Wales. It’s about giving the best service we can with the resources we have". During the project the partners will pilot the self assessment framework and make improvements to the way customer service is delivered. "This is an exciting project" says Gayna, "and in line with the engagement agenda we will be involving tenants, both in developing the self assessment framework, and in the assessment process itself."
